Counselling & Therapy
Meena’s work brings together counselling and a number of complementary approaches. Sessions are tailored to the individual — some people come for counselling alone, others explore one of the approaches below as part of the work.
Conversation-based support for children, teens and adults — in person and online.
Guided relaxation and focused attention, used within a therapeutic conversation.
A hands-on practice using pressure on particular areas of the feet.
Music therapy and sound-based practice, for relaxation, reflection and expression.
Art therapy uses drawing, painting and other forms of making as a way of expressing and reflecting on experience. No artistic skill or experience is needed.
Biofeedback approaches use instruments to show a person information about their own bodily responses, so that these can be observed and worked with during a session.
Self-hypnosis involves learning simple techniques of focused relaxation that a person can then practise on their own. Meena teaches it in individual sessions in person, and in online workshops.
Neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) looks at the links between language, thinking and patterns of behaviour. Meena is a Certified Practitioner of Neuro-Linguistic Programming.
Havening Techniques® is a method developed by Dr Ronald Ruden with Dr Steven Ruden. It combines gentle, soothing touch — to the arms, hands and face — with focused attention and simple guided activities, such as counting or imagining a calm scene.
Meena offers it as individual sessions in person, and separately teaches it in online workshops and training.
Tapping methods involve gently tapping with the fingertips on a sequence of specific points on the body — traditionally described as meridian endpoints — while attending to a feeling or memory, with the aim of helping a person feel calmer.
Meena works with two related but distinct methods: the Trauma Tapping Technique (TTT), developed by Gunilla Hamne and Ulf Sandström of the Peaceful Heart Network, and Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), developed by Gary Craig. She offers them as individual sessions in person, and separately teaches them in online workshops and training.
